Course Information
Central Training Group are pioneers of vocational training across schools in Essex and London, delivering training in hairdressing and now graphic design.
Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Hairdressing
This course is delivered over 2 years, we start the delivery in Year 10 with the completion of the qualification in year 11. On achievement of this qualification it is the equivalent to 4 GCSE's. You will get the chance to work on Shampooing, Scalp massage, Styling, Colouring and Cutting to give you the foundation you need to help build your hairdressing skills and theory knowledge enabling you to fast track onto your NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing qualification, which we offer on our Work Based Learning or Further Education Programme.
Hairdressing NVQ Level 1
This course is delivered over one year, we start and finish the deliver whilst your are in Year 11. Within this qualification you will learn how to become a Salon Junior, you will work towards achieving all the practical and theory skills needed to enable you to assist stylist within a working salon. You will get the chance to work on Shampooing & conditioning, Neutralising Perms, Working on Reception , Plaiting and Twisting the Hair, Blowdrying, Creating a hair and beauty image, Art of colour, Art of dressing hair, and Removing Hair Extensions. There are lots of great and exciting units to work towards to give you all the confidence to progress onto your NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing qualification, which we offer on our Work Based Learning or Further Education Programme.
BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Graphics
This course is delivered to all students when they start at Central whether they are in Year 10 or 11. This will prepare learners with the knowledge to progress to Level 2 in either Year 11 or when they leave school. Learners come into college two days a week. They are introduced to Industry Standard Software; Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and the Design Cycle. Learners will gain a basic understanding of Design processes and concepts both in digital and traditional Art forms. There will also be introduced to company work processes and work to set briefs. This introductory level will also include Art and Design basics.
NVQ Level 2 Design Support (Graphics)*
Progression from Level 1 to a realistic working environment where the learner will take on real and simulated jobs. The course is delivered over a year and is the equivalent to 4 G.C.S.E s at A*-C grade. Learners will gain a more in-depth understanding of Industry Standard Software; Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign on Apple Mac computers and they will be guided through a design process to produce a portfolio of evidence which makes up the qualification. On completion of the NVQ 2 the learner will have the skills and competence to join a design studio in a junior position enabling you to assist and take on small projects within that role.
Key Skills Level 1
There are a range of different Key Skills qualifications which we can get you to work towards, we would identify the best suited qualification for you that suits your individual needs. The qualifications are:
Communication Level 1
Application of Number Level 1
Wider Key Skills in either Problem Solving, Working With Others or Improving Own Learning
3792 Online test in Literacy or Numeracy at Level 1.
